Sensei Kevin Langford first started karate in December 1997, aged 32, where he joined the International Association of Shotokan Karate (IASK)

Sensei Langford was taught by the Chief Instructor of the IASK, Nicholas B Adamou, currently 8th Dan, who was one of the 'Seven Samurai' of Grandmaster Kanazawa, 10th Dan

In April 1999, Sensei Langford entered his last major competition and came 1st place in both Kata and Kumite.

In October 1999, as a 1st Kyu, Sensei Langford attended a course in Windsor and had the great opportunity to train with and meet the world-famous Grandmaster Kanazawa

Sensei Kevin Langford first received his shodan in March 2000, which he passed with flying colours...and a broken toe which he received a week before his grading!

His nidan was awarded to him in March 2002 and sandan in March 2006

He received his English Karate Governing Body (EKGB) instructors qualification in March 2005, along with his IASK instructors qualification - level 2 and has since also been awarded with a MASA (Martial Arts Standards Agency) coaching award.

Sensei Langford was a judge in both the IASK Championships in November 2007 and the W.L.I.C competition, with the late Sensei Chris Bond in July 2008.

He attended the final fareware course, hosted by Sensei Kanazawa in Watford in 2010.. a fantastic day, enjoyed by hundreds of karate-ka from all around the world. and even made the front row!

Sensei Langford was awarded his yondan (4th dan) on Tuesday 15th March 2011 by Sensei M Randall, MBE.  His certificate was officially handed to him at the annual SHOTO dinner and dance on Saturday 11th June 2011 where 30 of our club members and families also attended to see this great achievement.

He still trains with Sensei Randall, 9th Dan in North London and continues to try to get the very best out of the students he is instructing... trying to pass down what he has been taught by a list of prestigious instructors, including Sensei Randall and Grandmaster Kanazawa.
