Belt Order

**The Junior grading system differs slightly from that of adults in as much that the mid range of grades have an INTERMEDIATE level.  This is because the step from one belt to the next is simply too big for most Junior grades.  To help them improve and to give them confidence for the full belt, the intermediate system was devised.  Psychologically, the child is rewarded for improvement and allowed to grade to the full Kyu grade colour belt after a further four months' of practice.  Confidence and ability will both have improved.  This practice will virtually wipe out junior grades failing grading examinations, thus eliminating distraught members and upset parents at grading time - helping to improve self-confidence and self-esteem of the student.**
